Carioca Kidney Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) has beige color with brown rajas (coffee color). It has different shapes: some more rounded and other longer being cultivated in all Brazilian states.
It is the most consumed kind of beans in Brazil and It is a cross of two varieties of beans: Opaque Beans and Gold Beak Beans, beige with brown stripes. Carioca Kidney Beans remember Copacabana sidewalks, where the name comes from. There are about 20 variations of this breed, the most marketed ones are BRS Pérola, BRS Rubi, IPR-183, BRS Estilo and IAC Alvorada.
